Siddartha Gautam was a spiritual teacher from ancient India; he is an historical figure and the founder of Buddhism. He is generally recognized by Buddhists as the Supreme Buddha, the lord of Shakyas or lion of Shakya clan. He was born 563 B.C. at Lumbini and attained enlightenment at the age of 80 in Kushinagar.
