Michael means 'Who is Like God' and is the captain of the seven archangels who attend the throne of God. Devotional writings about Michael can be found in Christian, Jewish and Muslim cultures and he is often depicted carrying a lance or sword and stepping on the neck of a dragon or Lucifer. He is known as the Protector archangel who offers spiritual and physical protection.
