THE GOLDEN THRONE OF TUTANKHAMUN
Tutankhamun's throne was completely covered in gold and silver with an inlay of semi-precious stones. The back depicts the seated Tutankhamun with his queen Ankhesenamun, anointing him with perfume beneath a floral pavilion. The armrests are in the form of winged serpents wearing the double crown guarding the king's names. The seat is supported by animal feet and adorned by animal heads. The rays of the sun god Aten shine on the couple, giving them the sign for life, the Ankh.
